2012 Peer Mentor Applications
Friday, 19 August 2011 01:33
BSOC’s Peer Mentoring Program is one of the longest running programs this society has to offer and is one of the first that new students are exposed to.

We are currently looking for Peer Mentors that possess the following attributes:
  • Initiative: must be able to operate independently of coordinators control
  • Knowledge of the university’s standard practise
  • Ability to communicate fluently and concisely
  • Organised and punctual

A Peer Mentor will be required to work with a designated partner in leading a group of 4-10 first year students in a group discussion throughout Semester 1. The goal is to help them adjust to the university experience, especially the increased independence that they will now have.

As a Mentor, you will be expected to organise weekly group meetings by contacting designated mentees autonomous of the Business Society’s Education Directors communications. Although an outline will be given regarding discussion topics, ultimately the discretion will be upon Mentors to keep discussions flowing.
