On the 17th of August members of the UNSW Business Society voted to amend their consitution. The changes aimed to make the society more transparent, effective and fair.

The constitutional amendments work as follows:

1.  Change in the nomination process
Nominees can still run individually or as a group candidate.  However, if nominees wish to run as a group candidate, they no longer have to form a team comprising of the entire board of directors.  Instead, nominees need only to form groups of 6, “the Executive”, which includes the Chairperson, President, VPs (Internal, External and Activities) and Treasurer).  The rest of the process remains the same, i.e. They will have to submit their nomination using the correct forms and elections will still be by preferential vote.

2.  Change in the nomination requirements
Because of the potential increase in nominees, the nomination requirements are now more stringent.  They require that each nominee find a referee to show that they have been involved in an Arc affiliated club for at least one year and have him or her to sign a declaration stating their involvement.

3.  Changes to “full membership”
Students with a double degree who have finished their commerce component are still members of BSOC

4.  Changes to the VP (Sponsorship position)
Sponsorship will no longer be a Vice-President position and will revert back to a director position under VP (External).
